Nokia N95
Hi Guys,

Just found out the following from three;

The Nokia N95 is on our roadmap for release in small quantity in June or July, however this is not guaranteed as it is still subject to sign off and software testing.

I’m presuming its due to the Three software they bundle with their phones so hopefully it should be sorted out before long.

Its drawing closer people so fingers crossed it comes! :)

  1. I presume you’re talking about the UK market?

The N95 has been available on the Three network for a week now.
I’ve seen them in all of my local Three shops.

  2. I popped into a 3 store in Birmingham and not only do they not have the n95, but I was told due to software glitches they will not be having it at all on the network. Confusion reigns supreme.

  3. Sorry, didn’t want to confuse anybody.

I was talking about Three in Australia.

It’s strange though, I always thought Three UK would have these things first.

  4. Over here, the N95 sold by Three has a later firmware version than the ones sold by all the other carriers or the unlocked ones you can buy everywhere else.

It looks like they really have taken the time to make sure the handset works with the features they offer (X-Series etc.)

Makes me wonder why it’s not good enough for the UK market as well.

  5. There does appear to be a lot of conflicting information here with whether it will or wont be available.

I have been told a couple of times by Three staff (both by a UK call center, and in-store staff) that it is on its way, but there is no release date yet.

If the phone has launched in Australia (and I think it has been for a while now) - I can’t see why they wouldn’t release it here unless there are some serious issues that crop up. The mobile phone market is very much demand driven, so I imagine Three will release it shortly.

  6. I think the biggest problem here is the total lack of information from 3 uk themselves. Nothing on their website, customer services don’t know anything or at least wont tell us anything. It’s no wonder so many people have gone to other networks just to get this phone when all we have to go on is totally contradicting rumour, gossip and speculation. This “will they” / “wont they” scenario really does drive you nuts. I had considered the E65 on X- Series but the screen is so tiny, also no gps, a bog standard 2mb camera which according to reviews does not take very good pictures and it has a pop port instead of a mini usb port and no tv connection either!
I was tempted to go to another network (t-mobile was the best of the bunch) to get this phone, but when you look at what you get for your money in comparison to 3, they don’t even come close, three’s tariffs are the best also with x-series you get a lot more functions out of the phone on 3.
Have now decided to hang on with three in the hope that they will release this phone very soon……..better not hold my breath though!

  7. I called the ‘3 upgrade’ team today, they told me that N95 was having software problems, the main one being the battery lasting roughly 30 mins when using certain functions (i’m guessing the ’sat nav’). They offered me a refurbished Nokia N93 for £40 on a 25/month 12 month contract, free if I signed up for 18 months.

This sounded tempting till I read up on the N93 and the original N93 is panned, and been replaced by the N93i.

  9. Is this phone ever going to release on 3!!!!

  10. I was tempted to get the N95 on O2 especially when I realised the phone is not locked so your 3 SiM works in it just fine. I tried it in store and made a call, but did not have the chance to test the other features.

  11. I was told a couple of months ago in a 3 store that 3 would not accept the phone as they were unable to lock the phone to the 3 network. This makes sense as the O2 phone is unlocked.

  12. Been to my local 3 store today they told me they are taking pre orders of the N95 as the release is any day now. It is on their pricing matrix aswell.

    Obviously I have preordered mine.

    About time 3.

  13. Well after reading your comments I called up 3 and asked them whether I was able to preorder one and they said as it hasn’t officially been launched yet I can’t, and they wouldn’t give me a date, but they suggested I call back in a week and see if its been launched by then.

So looks like you can only pre-order one by going to a 3 store. I don’t have time to go to a store but i’ll be ordering one as soon as they are out!
